A high bitrate means more data, which in turn means high file sizes. Ideally, this is the bitrate and sample rate required to hear "lossless" audio. High-quality WAV files generally have a bitrate of 1,411kbps and a sample rate of 44.1KHz. When we "rip" CD files to a computer, we often convert these audio streams to WAV or AIF, as both codecs support the same bitrate and sample rate of a CD. CDs, or Compact Discs, typically use an audio format built specifically for CD players and do not have a direct-to-PC equivalent.
